Pirate Parties International (abbreviated PPI) is the umbrella organisation providing a common platform to establish international collaboration and communication between pirate parties around the world. The organisation (NGO) was formally founded in 2010 during the PPI conference held in Brussels. |
PPI exists to help establish, to support and promote, and to maintain communication and co-operation between pirate parties around the world. Its main goals are to raise awareness and widen the spread of the pirate movement, and to strengthen its bonds internally and externally.
PPI statutes have been voted during the Brussels Conference in 2010. They were amended by the General Assembly that took place in Friedrichshafen in March 2011.
PPI is governed by a board led by two co-chairmen. Policy, governance, and applications for membership are the responsibility of the General Assembly which meets at least once per year.
PPI is composed of official and observer members that include pirate parties from various countries such as Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Netherlands, etc
Pirate Party Belgium is one of the founding members of PPI.
Official pirate parties and pirate movements are active in several countries around the world. You can check out your local pirate party in the list below or visit Pirate Parties International.
