FACTUAL ASSOCIATION
To secure political independence, in most European countries, political parties are factual associations.
This status provides a warranty that a party can never be condemned as a whole and garantees the anonimity of its members.
Under the Belgian legislation, a factual association is an organization which only exists because of a common goal shared by its members. It is an association without a special judicial ground that can never be a part in contracts, can never own property, can never make donations or accept legacies.
Pirate Party Belgium was founded as a factual association mostly with the aim to ensure the anonimity of its members.
NPO
To assure the financial, administrative and logistical aspects of Pirate Party Belgium’s activity, a non-profit organization (NPO The Black Pearl ) was created.
The purpose of the NPO is to solely be a support vehicle of Pirate Party Belgium and to comply with local regulations and laws whilst protecting its members.
PPI MEMBERSHIP
Pirate Party Belgium is one of the founding members of PPI (Pirate Parties International). This organisation (NGO) was formally founded in 2010 during the PPI conference held in Brussels.
PPI statutes defined at the Brussels conference where amended in March 2011 during PPI general assembly.
