The Pirate movement seeks to promote free access to culture, knowledge and society. The movement tries to bring an up-to-date way of thinking to politics in general and it represents a modern outlook on society willing to reform the current state of knowledge, expression and technology, and its influence on everything in today’s society from communication, enterprise, public administration and creative culture. The Pirate Party can be interpreted as questioning the traditional contents of many fundamental democratic values, inviting the established political actors and power holders to negotiate the scope and meaning of these values. As such, the Pirate movement represents a new generation of voters and politicians, claiming to reform the classic political and democratic agenda, and its issues and values, by adapting them to a society built on a new technology and around individual lifestyles tied to the actual use of the technologies’ potentials. |
